Cast iron emits numerous small chips of metal. They don t seem to last as long as they do in steel, but I don t tap much cast iron. Tap slowly using plenty of lubrication. Cast iron and brass need different angles than steel or aluminum. I think it has something to do with the rake angle of the teeth.
